Obituary

On Tuesday, March 2nd, 2021, Alice Quinn, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away at the age of 77. Alice Johnson was born on May 24th, 1943 in New York City to Edwin and Helen (Marote) Johnson.

Alice attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City in 1961 to pursue her passion for the theater.  She married Jerry Quinn on September 7, 1963 in Rochelle Park, New Jersey, and in 1967 Alice and Jerry left New Jersey and moved to Spokane where they raised two sons, Jerry Jr. and James, and a daughter, Bonnie.

In addition to being a devoted mother, Alice pursued her love of theater, resulting in four decades of contributions to the dramatic arts in the Spokane area.  In 1967, she began a long and successful association with the Spokane Civic Theater.  Alice directed or performed in over dozen productions, where she received consistent praise and recognition.   She was thrilled to share her enthusiasm for theater with future generations as a part time drama instructor at Gonzaga University. Alice was a member of the traveling theater groups Title III and Beatitudes . She would continue to contribute to the growth of the arts by founding and establishing the St Mary's Players and Spokane Valley Reparatory Theater .  Her commitment to the stage - as an actress, director, mentor, and advocate - left a profound impact on the hundreds of performers she worked with, and the thousands who were able to enjoy her gifts and talents.

Alice's generosity extended beyond the theater to active involvement and contributions to the St Vincent De Paul Society and Steven's Ministries.

Alice was preceded in death by her father, Edwin, and her mother, Helen.  She is survived by her husband Jerry, her three children, Jerry Jr, Bonnie, and James, and four grandchildren, Randy, David, Hudson and Payton.
