Alma
Belisle
November 14, 1930 – September 6, 2022
Hartmeier, Mertens, Belisle
Alma
Elizabeth
(Age 91)
Of Spokane Valley, Washington, went home to the arms of Jesus on Tuesday September 6, 2022 at Orchard Crest Assisted Living surrounded by family. Alma was born November 14, 1930 in Cheney, Washington. She was the daughter of Pete and Therisa Hartmeier (both deceased). Alma was preceded in death by her sister Stella Peplinski, brothers George Hartmeier and William Hartmeyer, husbands Robert (Bob) Mertens and Glenn Belisle, son Ronald Mertens, and granddaughter Karen Caldeira. Alma went to elementary school in Cheney and graduated from MaryCliff High School in Spokane. She met and dated Bob through high school. They were married July 22, 1950. After Bob's death, Alma met and dated Glenn. They were married September 13, 1975. They took numerous trips throughout the United States and abroad. She worked most of her married life at J.C. Penny where she retired after 30 years. Outside of work, her passion was flowers and plants, loving each moment of planting and creating glorious gardens with them. She also brought the holidays alive when the family all gathered and created memories beyond measure! Alma was so loved by all, especially her St. Mary Church family, where she attended regularly. She went to daily Mass, followed by coffee with fellow parishioners at a local establishment. She served her parish and our loving God in the Prayer Shawl Ministry for Hospice, Eucharistic Minister, Funeral Receptions, and in the social group, Women at the Well. Alma is survived by sons Raymond (Marilyn), Jerry (Judy), Tom, Doug (Lori), numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be so missed by all of her family. The family would like to thank Orchard Crest Assisted Living, especially the weekly dayshift, and Hospice of Spokane for their wonderful care. The family would also like to thank those who brought her the Eucharist when she became homebound.
