Arlene
Andersen
August 10, 1935 – February 15, 2023
On the morning of February 15, 2023, Arlene Andersen of Spokane died at the age of 87. Arlene was born to Herman and Marie Poitras in 1935. In 1958, she married Franklyn Andersen, and together raised five children, Alan, Krista, Anne, Dayle, and Eric. In her early years, she moved to San Francisco and had the time of her life. There she met her husband, Andy, a Navy sailor from Nebraska, and they married. Arlene loved the thrill of military life and being a military spouse. She loved moving and meeting new people. The family lived in Massachusetts, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and different areas of southern California. When Andy retired from the Navy, they set off for the west coast. They stopped in Spokane, WA to visit Arlene's sister, Betty, and ended up staying. Arlene's favorite thing in the world was to have parties at her house and invite as many people as she could fit in. She loved cooking and the food never ran out. She loved to make grape jam and baking banana bread to give out to friends, relatives, and neighbors. Later in life she completed her high school equivalency and pursued her Associates Arts degree. Arlene is preceded in death by her husband, Andy, and her father and mother, Herman and Marie and her brother and sister, Donald and Muriel, and her grandchild, Stephanie. She is survived by her 5 children, and 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
