Barbara Rose Huber, 90, of Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully February 8, 2026. Born August 23, 1935, in Ogdensburg, New York, to Lawrence and Esther Elliott of De Kalb Junction, she graduated from the A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing in 1956 as a Registered Nurse. She married Richard S. Huber in 1957 and later settled in Spokane County in 1966. Barbara worked at Sacred Heart Hospital and as Company Nurse for Washington Water Power (now Avista), becoming a pioneer in Occupational Safety and Health in the Northwest before retiring in 1999. She enjoyed writing, genealogy, fishing, golf, travel, and time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers James, Eugene, and David Elliott; sisters Mary Place and Patricia Norris; and son Terrence Huber. She is survived by her children, Steve, Mark, Ann Cunningham, and James Huber. She will be remembered for her strength, independence, and unwavering love of family and friends.
