Obituary

Barbara peacefully ascended into heaven, surrounded by family and grateful for a life well lived.  She will be dearly missed by her husband of 63 years, Paul Redmond, her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Redmond and Gary Johnson, her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Deanna Redmond, her son-in-law Dale Keller and her grandchildren, Keenan and Kysa Johnson, Lucas and Aiden Redmond and Jenna Keller.

After a childhood of moving around for her father's work, Barbara graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1956 and went on to Sacred Heart School of Nursing, graduating in 1959.  Barbara worked as a nurse in several hospitals, including Moses Lake after graduating, Waco, Texas while Paul was in the US Air Force Navigation School and then Sacred Heart and Holy Family when they returned to Spokane.  She worked full and part time up until the birth of her youngest, Steven, but continued to use her nursing training as a volunteer.

Barbara was known for dry humor and quick wit; always delivered with a smile and followed by laughter.  She was a dear friend to many and loved spending time with her friends; Garden Club, bowling, bocce ball, lunches, dinners and lots of Gonzaga Basketball.

Barbara was also known for her quiet dedication to service, never wanting to be in the limelight, but always willing to contribute to the greater good.  There were many positions which made a huge difference in people's lives.  She volunteered for over 20 years at the House of Charity Free Clinic, including many years of managing the staffing.  She co-chaired fundraising for the Intercollegiate School of Nursing (now WSU School of Nursing).  She served as a Trustee of Providence Development Fund, was co-chair of the fundraising for Providence Women and Children's Hospital in Spokane and was on the Sister Peter Claver Award Committee.  And in between all of those, she was a long time leader of a Camp Fire group for her daughter, coordinated carpools for her kids various extracurricular events and supported her husband's career with quiet vigor.

Barbara is preceded in death by her daughter, Christine Keller, her father, Sam Davenport, mother and step father, Maxine and Edward Collins.
