Barry Daniel Rookey, age 82, went home to be with his Lord and Savior December 20, 2024.  He was born July 30, 1942 in Lewiston, Idaho to Harriet (Jo) Rookey and Bernard Rookey.  He is survived by his wife and love of his life of 58 years Marilyn (Gruettner) Rookey, son Brant Rookey (late Carolyn McGowan Rookey), daughters Janell Curtis, Nicole Stride (Tom Stride) and Sabrina Borck, brother Patrick Rookey (Judy Rookey), 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.  Barry was a servant of the Lord caring for others within his family, friends and community.  He served as a spiritual leader to inmates through a prison ministry and as a member of the Knights of Columbus, he participated in several volunteer programs that benefited many communities and charities.  Every person who crossed his path was touched by his warmth, humor and infectious laugh.  His favorite past times were spending time with his family and golfing with his buddies.

In celebration of Barry's life, there will be a rosary said at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church (Suncrest, Highway 291) Friday, January 31, 2025 at 7pm and a funeral mass at Assumption Catholic Church (3624 W Indian Trail Rd) Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11am with a reception to follow.
