Basil Frank
Shovelier
March 15, 1934 – July 28, 2022
Basil "Frank" Shovelier Jr passed away peacefully on July 28 th , 2022. He was 88 years old and had been living with his son and daughter-in-law in Nine Mile Falls, Washington.
Frank was born on March 15 th , 1934, to Margurite and Basil Shovelier in Belmont, Massachusetts. Frank joined the Air Force and served his country for 28 years until retiring in 1982. During his military service, he specialized in Intelligence Operations and Targeting. His tours of duty include the Military Assistance Command in Vietnam, Cold War duty near Berlin, and various Strategic Air Command and Tactical Air Command postings overseas in Germany, Okinawa, Labrador and stateside in Langley, McDill and Minot.
In 1959, Frank met Marie Rose Aline Nolette and her daughter, Kathy in Florida. They were married in 1964 and added their son, Paul, to their family. The family travelled throughout the US, the Far East and Europe during Frank's time in the Air Force.
After he retired, he attended Minot State College and graduated in 1985. He went on to work for H&R Block and Avis. He was a member of the Saint Thomas More Parish as well as a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus in Spokane.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Ethyl and Ann, and by his wife Marie Rose "Aline" Shovelier. He is survived by children Kathy Paul of Waitts Lake and Paul (Jill) Shovelier of Nine Mile Falls, 5 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
