Beatrice
Wolf
November 27, 1938 – April 23, 2022
Beatrice Mary Bohrer Wolf was born on November 27th 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Katherine Thyra Winther Bohrer and Clement Joseph Bohrer. She had three sisters; Patricia Bohrer Loroff, Roberta Bohrer Gehrke, and Constance Bohrer. Raised with her sisters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, she would affectionately be called Beatie by those who knew her throughout her life. She had lots of extended family with whom she maintained contact. She often spoke fondly of her youth and family, remaining close with all her sisters their whole lives.
After a very determined academic career, she graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She moved across the country from Milwaukee to San Francisco, California to further pursue her nursing career. It was there in December of 1963 where she would meet the love of her life, Dennis Francis Wolf. The couple were married on April 4th, 1964. A year later the couple welcomed their first child, Margaret Mary Wolf, known as Peggy. The family moved frequently, following Dennis' career in the Air Force. From Northern California they moved to Kansas City, MO, Milwaukee, WI and even spent two years on the island of Guam. During these travels the family added two children to the family, Francis Joseph Wolf in 1967 and Gary William Wolf in 1969. Beatie and Dennis would use opportunities with the Air Force to travel to exotic locations like Hong Kong and Japan. They would continue this tradition as their children grew, often vacationing as a family and eventually taking their children to Europe. Beatie would often share memories of this time and the things she was honored to experience. While the family lived in San Bernardino, CA, Beatie also received a Master in Nursing from Loma Linda University in 1978. The family finally settled in Spokane, Washington in 1980, where Beatie would live for the rest of her life.
In Spokane Beatie continued her career in nursing. She was employed at Washington State University teaching nursing at the intercollegiate center in Spokane. She finished her nursing career as a clinical nurse educator at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. Even after her retirement, she enjoyed asking every medical professional about their education and took great pride in the accomplishments of colleagues she had the pleasure of teaching. She would continue her love of teaching throughout her life, transitioning from her professional love of nursing to her personal love of the Catholic Church. Beatie was a member and teacher of countless bible studies and never stopped taking pleasure in learning about religious texts and expanding her faith. Even eventually using her time and knowledge to sponsor other people from her parish in their journey transitioning to Catholicism. She took great comfort in sharing her loyal faith. In her retirement Beatie was a devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren, Katherine Thyra Szafranski (1996), Mia Florence Szafranski (1998), Caleb Gary Wolf (2000), Ian James Szafranski (2001), and Delaney Naomi Wolf (2002). She attended countless sports games, being the loudest cheerleader and was always there when a grandchild received a sacrament. She took pride in all their academic accomplishments, always reminding them to study 10% more than you planned to because it could make the difference. Beatie was also gifted with 27 nieces and nephews and remained close with extended family in Wisconsin. She will be remembered by not just her grandchildren but her multiple grandnieces and grandnephews as a beautiful, thoughtful, caring woman who baked the best brownies, pies, and always mastered anything with sugar and flour.
Beatrice Wolf, Beatie, will be remembered by those who knew her as someone who always did her best to get to 7am daily mass, and said a few extra prayers on the days when she needed to sleep in. We will all reminisce about her passionate love of Gonzaga basketball and the sweet way she always took the time to learn the names of the players. She watched every game, enjoying herself hooting and hollering like she was right there in the stands. She was even fortunate enough to cheer them on in person a few times throughout the years. Beatie will be remembered as a devoted sister, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, (surrogate mother to her sisters' children) grandmother, and friend. She was the first to offer a prayer for someone in a hard time or congratulations on a success. She enjoyed a 58 year loving marriage and was blessed to watch all her grandchildren reach adulthood. Her family Dennis, Frank and Brenda and Peggy and her friends are saddened by her passing but take comfort in her staunch faith and that she has been reunited with her parents, sisters, son Gary, and the countless loved ones who have gone before her.
