Bernard F. Comer was born (7/27/1937), in Seattle, Washington. Bernie grew up on Capitol Hill and attended St James Cathedral grade school, where he was an altar boy. He graduated from O'Dea High School where he made lifelong friends. Bernie met the love of his life Gerrie Woodward, whom he married in 1958, their love affair lasted for over 65 years. Bernie and Gerrie moved to Spokane in 2015.
Bernie was a true self-made man, Bernie started his own sign business in his garage in Lake City, moved the business to downtown Seattle, and expanded operations to include trade show booths and point-of-purchase displays. His reputation grew as an innovator, and his company, (Commercial Displayers) attracted much attention from some of the best-known companies in the PNW. Starbucks, New Balance, K2, Washington State Ferries and Hunter Douglas.
Bernie was a true adventurer, he enjoyed white water rafting, skiing, golf, fishing, and hunting. Bernie was passionate about, art, traveling, good food, and exceptional restaurants. Bernie loved his wife, family, nieces, nephews, and friends. He is survived by his wife Gerrie Comer, Children, Erin Montgomery (J.R.), Jeffery Comer (Reina), Andrew Comer (Elena), Patrick Comer (Marcy), 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Bernie will be missed by all who knew him.
