Obituary

Betty "Peg" Margaret Haffner, a beloved soul who graced this world on October 17, 1930, in Sydney, Australia, bid farewell on May 30, 2023, in Spokane, Washington, succumbing to pneumonia. Her presence enriched the lives of those who knew her, and her legacy will forever be etched in our hearts.

Born and raised in Sydney, Betty blossomed into a remarkable individual. She attended Willoughby Girls School until 1946, nurturing her love for knowledge and fostering lifelong friendships along the way. Betty possessed a genuine passion for connecting with people, which led her to embark on a fulfilling career in retail, where she delighted in serving others. Her warm smile and infectious laughter brightened the lives of all who crossed her path.

Music and dancing were among Betty's many joys in life. With a rhythm in her heart, she reveled in the melodies that stirred her soul. As an avid reader, she found solace in the written word and embraced the wonders of different worlds within the pages. Betty's adventurous spirit took her on unforgettable journeys, and she marveled at the beauty and diversity of the places she encountered.

Beyond her vibrant pursuits, Betty was a gifted knitter and seamstress, showcasing her talents in every stitch. However, her true culinary prowess shone through her famous pumpkin pies and delectable jelly tarts and oatmeal raisin cookies. She relished the opportunity to share her culinary creations, particularly during joyous holiday gatherings where she welcomed family and friends with open arms.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents, William and Violet Brown, her dear brother William M Brown, her first husband Raymond Curtis, her second husband Louis Haffner, and her cherished granddaughter Diane Lee (Donnelly). While our hearts ache with her absence, we find solace in the enduring memories and profound impact she had on our lives.

Left to carry on Betty's legacy are her three devoted children: Carolyn Parker (Danny), Donna Faragke (Suakvae), and William Haffner (Alofa). Alongside them, she leaves behind a remarkable lineage of love: nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, who will forever cherish her gentle spirit and loving guidance.

In her later years, Betty found comfort and companionship among her newfound friends at Fairview Assisted Living. Their bond was a testament to her warmth and ability to foster connections with others.

We invite all those who loved Betty to join us in bidding her a heartfelt farewell at the funeral service, which will be held at Holy Cross at 2 pm on Thursday, June 8th. As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, let us cherish the memories we shared and honor the legacy of love she leaves behind.

In our hearts, Betty "Peg" Margaret Haffner will forever be remembered as a radiant soul who embodied love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her heavenly home.
