Carolina V
Veitenheimer
November 8, 1933 – November 3, 2023
Carolina "Carol" Violet Veitenheimer, age 89, passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, November 3, 2023 at Devoted Care Adult Family Home in Spokane, Washington.
Funeral services are being coordinated by Holy Cross and will be held at Assumption Catholic Church in Spokane on Friday, December 1st at 11:00am.
Carol was born in 1933 to Carmela (DeFelice) and Delphino Naccarato in Spokane, where she attended Marycliff High School. On her nineteenth birthday, she married James (Jim) Veitenheimer and together they raised two children, Sharyn and Steve.
In 1970, Jim and Carol moved to Colbert where they resided for the past 53 years. They built the well-respected German Shepherd breeding company, CA-JI Shepherds. Carol's dog Fallon was the first dog from the Spokane area to attain Championship rank for its breed in both America and Canada.
Carol was a feisty Italian who loved to laugh, and was incredibly devoted to her family. She loved to tell stories to anyone who would listen, especially about her dogs and her family. Her life with Jim was full of love as their children grew and they welcomed grandchildren and great-grandchildren into their hearts.
The family would like to thank Nikki Blair for her loving support of Carol as her health declined & the Devoted Care Adult Family Home for their incredible care in her final days.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, two infant children Scott and Sandra, and her son-in-law Donald Thorne. Carol is survived by Jim, her loving and devoted husband of 71 years, two children Sharyn Thorne and Steve Veitenheimer (Patti), her siblings Rich (Donna), Rose, and Al (Vikkie), six grandchildren Lisa (Kenny), Jimmy, Shirrell (Jen), Kristi (Jeremy), Shane (Kimberly), and Andrew (Brandee), and seven great-grandchildren Harper & Kaisen, Kylie & Finnegan, and Blake, Paige, & Erik.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial donation to Spokane Humane Society.
