Cheri M.
Hoagburg
July 8, 1967 – October 18, 2025
Cheri Michelle Hoagburg, age 58, passed into the arms of our Lord on October 18, 2025. She was surrounded by the love of her family at her home in Liberty Lake, WA. Cheri's 11-year battle with metastatic Colon Cancer was fought courageously to the end. She held on long enough to hold her first grandchild and also see her baptized. The Lord has been Cheri's firm foundation along this difficult journey, and we know He welcomed her with open arms.
Cheri was born on July 8, 1967, in Bozeman, MT, as the first child of Mike & Diana Andriolo. Eventually, she became the big sister to three siblings, Michael, Christy, and Tony. Playing "Mom" and reading stories to her dolls were her favorite pastimes. This foreshadowed the joy of being a mom to two amazing children and her love for books and reading that was woven into every aspect of her life.
The family moved multiple times during her childhood, from Montana, Oregon, Wyoming, Washington, and back to Montana. She spent her Middle and High School years in Kalispell, attending the Junior High and Flathead High Schools. In High School, she danced with the Akekowans, twirled the baton, and played the flute, all while maintaining a spot on the Honor Roll. She was an active member of the Key Club, a service organization, which led to her involvement with the Kiwanis Club as an adult, where she served as a member and officer for many years.
Cheri graduated from the University of Montana as a "Grizzly". However, her journey didn't start there. After High School, she enrolled and attended Montana State University as a "Bobcat". While in Bozeman, she joined the Delta Gamma Sorority, where she loved being a "Big Sister" and made lifelong friends. She took a short break from Academics to participate in the Miss Montana Pageant, where she was a runner-up. During this time, she managed multiple clothing stores and discovered her gift for management and sales. She eventually returned to school and, in 1992, earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Montana in Business Finance and Marketing. Her husband used to tease her for being the most beautiful "Grizzcat" in Montana!
Cheri's dynamic and magnetic personality made her the perfect employee in the business world. She spoke with confidence and believed in whatever idea, product, or information she was sharing with you. As a voracious reader, one would know that her knowledge base was extensive on everything she presented. Her employment moved her from Coeur d'Alene to Las Vegas, New Orleans, Pensacola, and Washington state, landing her in Liberty Lake. Jobs included North Idaho Business Journal, Cellular USA, Entertainment Books, AIG Valic, Scholastic Books, Pampered Chef, and Herff Jones.
Her first week in Pensacola, she met Scott at the Pensacola Spring Fest. They were playing trivia at the VH1 Booth, listening to Cheap Trick on the stage in the background. They exchanged phone numbers and she waited 3 days for his call. After that first call, they never stopped talking and got engaged 3 years later.
They married on June 15, 2002, welcomed their beautiful daughter Jessica in 2003, and moved to Liberty Lake, WA, in 2004 to be closer to Cheri's supportive parents. Their adorable son Colton was born in 2006, completing their family.
Cheri's top priority was being a supportive wife, a loving mom, and a caring daughter. Because of her keen organizational skills, she was able to work full-time, volunteer in the community, and be involved at her kids' school. She was a Scholastic Representative, a Kiwanis officer, the President of the school PTA, and taught religious education alongside her mother, Diana, for many years.
Encompassing the entirety of her life was Cheri's devotion to the Catholic Faith–it was undeniable. Inspired by her Grandma Bev at an early age, she chose to model the walk of a steadfast saint. She trusted in the saving Grace of her Savior, Jesus Christ, and through her actions was a beacon of HIS light for others. The Rosary was her Peace as she prayed intercessions through the Blessed Mother Mary. She spoke of her St. Joseph Community as her "lifeline," encouraging her in the darkest of times. The hours of involvement in every aspect of church life, mass, and fellowship are a devotion beyond compare. Along with her family, her Faith will be her legacy.
Cheri is preceded in death by her Grandma Bev and Grandpa Tony, Grandma Jennie & Grandpa Joe, her Mother-in-law Janet, Aunts and Uncles, and a special cousin, Shalee.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Hoagburg of Liberty Lake, WA, her daughter Jessica (Zach) Koontz and first grandchild Addalyn Michelle Koontz of Liberty Lake, WA, and her son Colton Hoagburg of Liberty Lake, WA. Her parents, Mike and Diana Andriolo of Liberty Lake, WA. Her father-in-law, Frank Hoagburg of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Her brothers, Michael (Judy) Andriolo of Bozeman, MT, and Tony Andriolo and family of Helena, MT, and her sister, Christy (Jason) Sutton and family of Yorktown, VA. Her Uncle Steve and Aunt Laura, Aunt Sharon of Helena, MT, and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews. And her loyal walking companion, Coco.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Parish, 4521 N. Arden Road, Otis Orchards, WA, with a reception immediately following in the church hall. The graveside service will be at 2 pm that afternoon at St. Joseph Cemetery, 17825 E. Trent, Spokane Valley, WA, and all are invited to attend. A Rosary Vigil and viewing will be the evening before the service, October 31, 2025, at 7 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Parish.
We will miss this Radiant Soul as our time on earth remains, but the Beautiful Butterfly has been released into heaven and is free of suffering. Let this bring a smile to your face.
In honor of Cheri, join us in wearing BLUE for Colon Cancer awareness during her services.
