Obituary

On Sunday, August 25, 2024, 58 yr. old Cheryl Lynne Kennedy Gould of Spokane passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep at home.

Cheryl was a talented teacher, faithful wife, and loving mother. Her magnetic personality forged deep connections and sparked joy in the lives of others. She poured out her soul in what she did, with no need for credit. She was practical, down to earth, and optimistic. She happily coordinated and organized to get the job done in both her family and her community.

Cheryl was the beloved daughter of the late Joanne (Shellbetter) and ninety year-old Gus (Angus) Kennedy. She attended Assumption Parish School for elementary, and Gonzaga Prep High School. She earned her B.A. in Education from Eastern Washington University, and a Masters in Education and Computer Technology from Waldon.

She married the love of her life, Kevin E. Gould of Whittier, California, in 2003, and they raised a much-loved son, Eli Robert Gould, born in 2004 in Spokane. Cheryl was a "Mama Bear," always working to give Eli every opportunity in school and life.

As a local Spokane teacher for fifteen years, she loved her early elementary children, and aptly taught the differently abled. For seven years she cared for developmentally impaired adults, writing comprehensive care plans and assisting in home residential care. This past year, while caring for her ailing father, her faith grew, and she delighted in her Bible Study Fellowship women's group.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Kevin, son, Eli, father, Gus, siblings: Karen Garman (Spokane), Scott Kennedy (Bainbridge), and Brian Kennedy (Seattle), and her extensive family and dear friends.

A Celebration of Cheryl's Life is planned for Thursday, September 12th, 2024, with Mass at 11:00 am at Assumption Parish, and a reception following at 12:15. Her legacy of loving kindness, respecting the dignity of all, and selflessly caring for others and forging deep friendships remains.
