Obituary

Christine (Tina) Ann Kramp was born on 23 January 1964 in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, to David and Ann Kramp, where David was stationed in the US army following his medical training.

From an early age, Tina developed a love for drawing and water. In fact, Tina learned to swim before she could walk. She was the oldest of seven children. As a young child, Tina would often assume lifeguard duties, watching over her younger siblings in the backyard swimming pool. Tina's love of water would lead her to swim in the Special Olympics in her teenage years, winning multiple medals in the breaststroke—and jumping out of the pool to cheer on her competitors. When her family relocated to Spokane, Washington, Tina attended St. Aloysius Gonzaga grade school and Gonzaga Prep, and graduated from Mead High School in 1985.

Everywhere she went, and with whomever she interacted, Tina was known for her kind smile, gentle manner, and loving presence. In 1989, Tina joined the community of L'Arche, Spokane, which became her forever home, community, and family as she grew into adulthood. Tina worked at the L'Arche workshop for several years, making beautiful candles, greeting cards and other novelty gift items, displaying her beautiful artistic talent and love of drawing. Tina also volunteered as a candy striper for several years at Holy Family Hospital. Her smile and laughter were a gentle and reassuring comfort to patients, volunteers, and employees for many years; she made baby hats and roamed the halls delivering magazines and books to appreciative patients.

In her later years, Tina developed complications from a broken hip, but this unfortunate circumstance did not quell her lively and loving spirit. Tina maintained her love for her family, her community at L'Arche, anyone who offered a warm hug, the crisp pages of a new coloring book with a pack of new markers or colored pencils, a new Jenny doll on Christmas or her birthday, soft yellow pajamas, Winnie the Pooh, Snoopy, a cold Diet Coke, a drive in the country, visits from her family or welcoming new babies to the family, John Denver belting from the radio, a Gonzaga basketball win, and her understated but ever present faith.

Tina maintained numerous special relationships with family and friends, including her wonderful aunt, Mary Jane, her dear friends at L'Arche, including Sandy, Sean, Hal, Michael, and others, Aunt Pat, brothers and sisters, and abundant nieces and nephews. Tina maintained a beautiful and close relationship rooted in unconditional devotion and love with her mother.

Tina passed away peacefully on 23 December 2024 in Spokane, WA. She is survived by her mother, Ann Kramp, and her six brothers and sisters (Stephen Kramp, Mary Akers, Lou Kramp, Amy Royster, Jill Herendeen, and Michael Kramp), and is preceded in death by her father, David Kramp, who remained perpetually devoted to his first-born child.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on 18 January 2025 at 2pm PST at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Spokane, WA. A reception at Cataldo Hall on Gonzaga University campus will immediately follow the funeral services.
