Obituary

Christopher William McLean was born May 11, 1928 and went to be with his father in heaven on April 22, 2023. Just weeks shy of his 95th birthday.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years Ellen (Betty) Elizabeth Mclean, his four children Christine Sitton her husband Dave, Bob McLean his wife Vickie, Cheryl McLean and Rick McLean. He joined his oldest son Dennis McLean in heaven who passed away on December 10 , 2012. Chris was a devoted and loving husband, great father and wonderful grandfather to his ten grandkids and eleven great grandkids.

The family gathered around and were able to say their last "I love you's" the night before he peacefully went to be with the Lord. He was a great role model. He taught us the importance of having God in our daily lives and to trust him, work hard doing your very best at whatever you are doing, be honest, love everyone, enjoy your family, take care of each other, have fun and live life to it's fullest.

He was born in Brooklyn NY and moved to New Hyde Park NY in his younger years. He Joined the Navy at the age of 17. In 1948 while stationed in Bremerton WA, he met the love of his life. After his active duty tour ended, he and Betty moved to Spokane WA. Chris went to work for Johnson Lumber and Millwork and their first son Dennis was born. At the age of one, Chris was called backed to active duty to serve in the Korean war. Chris was then assigned USS Iowa. He was very proud of the time he gave serving his country. In the navy he worked in damage control learning various trades. One of them being cabinetry work, which ended up being his calling in life. Upon returning from the war and being honorably discharged he retuned back to work at Johnson Lumber and Millwork.

He was a very skilled craftsman at his trade. He and his partner Glenn Hasting ended up buying the business from Clarence Johnson. He sold the business and retired at the age of 57.

Chris enjoyed retirement, spending time traveling with his wife, enjoying his family and eager to help with any project that came up. Chris was always there to lend a hand to anyone and everyone in need. His highlight of the week was the backyard barbeques with the family.

His favorite time of the year was Christmas. He celebrated the season with a reason and that was to celebrate the birth of Jesus. He took decorating very seriously and looked forward to family celebrating with him. He always made it a special time and will be greatly missed this Christmas.

His hobbies included golf, photography, woodworking, traveling, playing the saxophone and listening to big band music.

Chris woke up every day with an attitude of gratitude and a positive outlook on life. His moto was "one day at a time". He had one of the firmest handshakes of any man you would meet. When talking with him you knew he truly cared about you. Very seldom in his life did you hear him complain or make it about him, it was always those around him that mattered most.

He lived his life serving the Lord and leading by example. He loved everyone and everyone loved him.

We are sure the good Lord greeted him and said "Well done, good and faithful servant" Matthew 25:23

There is no doubt he will be missed but with what he taught us, how he loved us, the memories he created, the laughter and smiles he shared with us, is what the family will hold onto and remember.

Thank you for being a great husband, father, friend, role model and wonderful grandfather. We love and miss you and look forward to the day we will be joined together once again.
