Obituary

Daniel Joseph Bosch passed away on May 21, 2021 in Yakima, WA. Dan was born in Spokane, WA on August 16, 1949 to William and Alice (King) Bosch. He grew up in Spokane, attending Gonzaga Prep High School and Eastern Washington University.
It was during his college days Dan had a dream that someday music would be his life. He pursued his dream with a deep passion, writing songs and teaching himself how to play guitar and harmonica. His dream took him many places. It took him to New York City in 1975, where he met and auditioned with John Hammond and performed at many famous music venues, including CBGB's. He returned to Spokane and collaborated with his good friend, musician and producer, Doug LaPlante, to record his "Day Dreamer" album. In the 80's and 90's, Dan performed at a variety of venues in and around Spokane. He moved to Mendocino, CA in 2004, where he continued playing his music. Dan formed and was the leader of the Mendocino Village Council to connect persons of different faiths with the intent of improving conditions for the poor and disadvantaged in the community. Through his hard work and persistence, he made a positive impact on the community during his time there.
Dan suffered from a bipolar disorder, presenting him with many life challenges. He was intelligent, creative, kind and sensitive, with a fun sense of humor. A talented singer-songwriter, he had incredible determination and desire to spread love through his music. His beloved dogs, Junior and Casper, were his faithful companions and brought much joy to his life. Dan lived the last 12 years in Yakima, where he enjoyed spending weekends with his brother Bill, sharing meals, conversations, movies, concerts and cheering on the Seattle Seahawks and the Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball team. He will live forever in our hearts.
Dan is survived by his stepmother Colleen Bosch, sisters Carol Schoentrup (Joe) and Theresa Hart (Stuart) of Spokane, brothers Robert Bosch of Seattle, WA and William Bosch of Yakima, WA, several aunts, nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Joan Bosch. The family thanks Yakima Memorial Home Hospice for helping care for Dan during the final weeks of his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to SCRAPS, 6815 E Trent Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99212. A private service will take place at a later date.
