Obituary

David Emery Brunett, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on August 19th, 2025.

Dave was born September 10th, 1947, to Ruth Geraldine Murphy and Emery Joseph Brunett in Coeur d Alene, Idaho. Later he moved to southern Idaho where Dave spent his youth, attending Caldwell High School.

In 1964, at the age of 17, Dave enlisted in the US Army. After attending basic training, he was deployed to join the military conflict in Vietnam.

During his time in Vietnam, Dave served proudly with the 229th Aviation Battalion of 1st Cavalry. He was a proud Veteran, serving honorably in Vietnam where he earned numerous awards and commendations for his bravery and dedication. Dave proudly wore his "Vietnam Veteran" hat.

In early 1969 Dave moved to Spokane where he met his future wife, Linda Young.

Dave and Linda made their home in the Spokane area with their three boys, Dan, Tom and Mike. He worked as an auto technician.

In 1980 Dave's love of the U.S. Army, and his pride in being a soldier led him to enlist in the Washington Army National Guard. He went to work for the Washington Army National Guard as a civilian Heavy Equipment Maintenance Technician. He was eager and willing to accept assignments as an instructor for various courses and teach his skills to young soldiers.

Dave and Linda divorced in 1991 but remained good friends throughout the remainder of his life. There was never a family event where Dave and Linda were both not in attendance. A testament to how Dave felt about his family.

In 1995 Dave retired from both his civilian position, and as a member of the National Guard. He was able to spend his time enjoying his love of the outdoors, and golfing with friends and family.

Dave was a man of intense passion, with a fiery spirit that reflected his deep convictions. He could be quick to express his frustrations. His strength, loyalty and quiet humor will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth, his father Emery and his youngest brother Dan Gene Brunett. He is survived by his brother Tommy, three sons Dan (Lynnetta), Tom (Nicole), and Mike (Erica) and their mother Linda Cael(Jim). He is also survived by ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

The family thanks the Deaconess ICU team for their compassionate care.
