Deanna Myrtle Ranniger of Spokane Valley, Washington, passed away on September 19, 2026, at age 87. Born on September 26, 1938, she was lovingly raised by her mother, Myrtle Walker, and stepfather, Jack Walker, and was the younger of two children. Deanna met the love of her life, Duane Ranniger, in junior high school, and their relationship continued through high school and beyond. They married and lived in Pullman while Duane attended college. During their 69 years of marriage, they became the heart of their family. After Pullman, they lived in Bridgeport and Othello before settling in Spokane. While Duane worked as a teacher and coach, Deanna devoted herself to raising their five children. Once the children were in school, she became a travel agent and later opened Elite Travel, a successful, lively travel agency with two partners. She thrived in the business, arranging vacations for hundreds of clients. Outside of work, Deanna enjoyed golf, gardening, and her beloved bridge group, which she was part of for 50 years. She and Duane also enjoyed traveling, tailgating with friends at Cougar games and attending their children and grandchildren’s activities. Deanna was a devoted wife who supported Duane in his endeavors and a remarkable mother. 

Deanna was preceded in death by her husband Duane; her parents; her sister, Jennice Howell. She is survived by her children, Karie (Tom) O’Brien, Kim Kindsvogel, Kris (Jim) Bjorklund, Steve (Angie) Ranniger, and Scott Ranniger; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Deanna’s legacy is one of love, family and her faith in God.

Services will be held at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Otis Orchards, WA on Saturday, October 10th. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am. A reception will follow at the church. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Guardian Angel Homes staff for their care and support during her final years and to Hospice of Spokane.
