Diana
Cosner
January 8, 1942 – November 7, 2024
COSNER, Diana M, "Diane" (Maciejewski), age 82, of Spokane, passed away November 7th, 2024.
Born in Ashland, Wisconsin, January 8th, 1942, to Theodore and Helen Maciejewski. The family moved to Spokane when she was a child, where she spent the rest of her life. Diane was the eldest of four children, attending Saint Patrick's Elementary and Middle School, graduating from Rogers High School.
Diane married Donald G Cosner and had three children: Kevin, Scott and Carmen. Diane spent most of her adult life in the Hillyard neighborhood, near Saint Patrick's School.
Diane had an affinity for children. She was a neighborhood mom who watched out for her children and their extended circle of friends. With that passion in her heart, she also took in a few young boarders over the years, extending her immediate family. Adele Ward, Kathy Torosian, Faye Torosian and Connie Hodges all lived in the Cosner residence throughout the years. They all referred to her as "Mom" and are considered "Sisters" of the Cosner family. Diane operated a daycare from her home for several years, taking care of neighborhood children and students that attended Saint Patrick's. Many of the children referred to her as "Grandma".
Diane's language of love was cooking. She needed no excuse to cook for an event, hungry neighborhood kids, or visiting friends. She loved hosting sporting events, holiday meals and wedding receptions at her home.
After a long battle with dementia, Diane passed on the morning of November 7th. She was preceded in death by Don Cosner; her parents Theodore and Helen Maciejewski; brother Ted Maciejewski; and brother-in-law Jim Cosner. She is survived by her children: Kevin Cosner, Scott Cosner and Carmen Cosner-Steele; son-in-law Scott Steele; grandchildren Hannah, Kate, Gavin and Rebecca; sisters Linda and Helen; nieces, nephews and many close friends.
Services will be held at Holy Cross Chapel, 7200 N Wall Street, Spokane, December 6th at 11:00 AM. Following the service, family and close friends are invited to celebrate her life at Twigs Bistro, 401 E Farwell Road, Spokane, at 12:15 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Spokane Humane Society, in her honor, as she loved her kitties.
