"Diane Mary "Nana" Houston, 91, of Spokane, WA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on September 11, 2025. She was born January 28, 1934, in Spokane to Pauline and William Siers. A graduate of Marycliff High School, Diane lived and worked in Spokane and the surrounding area until the early 1970s, then spent 25 years in Nevada and San Jose, California, where she enjoyed a close connection with her son Matthew's family. During her years in California, she worked as an executive secretary in the tech industry, including seven years at Hewlett-Packard, and was admired for her organizational skills, steadfast friendship, and the way she loved unconditionally. After retiring in 1999, Diane returned to her cherished hometown of Spokane, where she lived the remainder of her life.
Diane delighted in playing bridge and other card games with her friends, her daughter, and especially her beloved sister and best friend, Fran Onzay.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Wesley Houston; her son, Matthew (Ruth); her brother, Dick Siers (Bobbie); and her brother-in-law, Frank Onzay.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela; sister, Fran Onzay; brother, Randy (Susan) Siers; grandchildren Samantha (Kyle) Schmidlkofer, Iesha (Gustavo) Lopez, and Armando (Rose) Lara; her nine great-grandchildren: Rook Wesley and Mira Diane Schmidlkofer, Gustavo Jr., Liliana, and Serenity Lopez, and Reyna, Armando Jr., Isaac, and Sofia Lara; numerous cherished nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Spokane, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice in Diane's honor."
