Obituary

Don was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 22, 1929. His mother passed away when he was 7 years old. His father worked for the railroad. Don spent a lot of time with his dear sister Jeanne and his lifelong friends Paul and Steve. He went to the Salvation Army for church and activities. While there he learned to play the trumpet!

When Don was 17 he enlisted in the army. During World War II he served as a medic for 2 years in Japan.

Don met his wife Tina when he was a dance instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. Don and Tina loved ballroom dancing together. He always said Tina was his best partner.

Throughout their marriage Don and Tina loved to spend time with their family camping, fishing, swimming, boating, and sometimes visiting Don's sister in California. Don was an avid golfer. He really enjoyed the days spent out on the green with friends. Don also spent time at the senior center playing ping pong until he was 90 years old!

Don held many jobs throughout his life. He worked for Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Carnation Milk, owned and operated Hood's Tavern Specialties, worked as a manager at Quick Industrial Caterers, and held other positions throughout his life. When Don retired he volunteered at the local elementary school.

Don loved his wife Tina deeply. They continued dancing as long as they were able throughout their marriage. He was by her side to attend to her every need as long as he was physically able. Don and Tina were married for almost 68 years.

Don had a deep love for his family and a personal relationship with God. He was preceded in death by his sons Donald Jr. and Gary whom he dearly loved.

Don passed away peacefully on Wednesday November 30th surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Tina, his sons Les and Michael and their spouses Barbara and Debbie, his daughter Rosanna and her husband Shane. He has 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
