Don was born October 11, 1940 to Francis & Phyllis Zappone at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. It is with heavy heart to announce the passing of Don into the Lords care on Saturday August 7 ^th 2021 at Sacred Heart Hospital. Don was 80 years old at his passing and had lived a full life.  Don attended St. Aloysius grade school, Gonzaga Preparatory School and Gonzaga University after he served 3 years in the Navy. He loved golf ( got his" hole in one" in 1997), boating, kite flying and sun bathing, he always had a tan. He loved spending time every year at Ocean Shores in the warm weather.  He enjoyed Gonzaga, Seahawks & Mariner games. He worked in the Kennel in the food court during both Men and Women home games. Don was a Kenny G & country music fan. He did prison ministry for 24 years at Monroe and 5 years at Airway Heights. He was an "angel" at Snoqualmie Pass for the Ski Patrol and was known as "Grandpa Snow" as he spent nearly 20 years there. He was an avid reader and would read a full book in one day and he belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Jeannie of 37 years, son, Doug, daughters, Gina & Nicole, step sons, Todd & Tracy, 8 grandchildren Zack, Zavier Zaron, Noah, Jake, Taylor, Sophie and Trevor. One granddaughter, Madison preceded Don in passing and many loving family members and friends. The family extends gratitude and appreciation for the emotional support received from so many friends and family during this trying time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Don's memory, in order to provide weekly altar flowers in his name to Our Lady of Fatima Church , 3327 S. Perry, Spokane, WA 99203.

There will also be a Celebration of Life Service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Issaquah, WA on September 25th at 11am.
