Duane
Lewis
November 11, 1947 – December 4, 2025
Duane Edward Lewis was born the second son of five children to Jack and Alice Lewis on November 11, 1947 in Libby Montana.
The family moved to Spokane in the 1960’s where Duane attended The Davis School for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. He graduated from North Central High School where he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol.
Friends nicknamed him The Duke and The Mad Scientist. An avid reader, he always carried a book and a Bible everywhere he went. His greatest loves were classical music, science fiction movies and astronomy.
After graduating from Eastern Washington University, he moved to California in the 1970’s and settled in Lancaster, CA with roommates Sheri and Jerry until his death on December 4, 2025.
He was a treasured member of the Antelope Astronomical Society where he built several telescopes and shared his knowledge of the cosmos with the public at local star parties. He will most be remembered for his voracious appetite for food, his unique sense of humor, love of knowledge (science, history and astronomy) and his deep faith. He inspired everyone to look up!
