Obituary

Elizabeth Irene Webber, "Beth", of Spokane, WA went to be with our Lord on February 13, 2023, and reunited with her husband of 58 years, Bill.  Oh, what a full life she lived!  Born in Seattle on April 15, 1927, to John McLean Riley and Irene Ahearn, along with her older siblings, Jean and John, the Riley family moved to Spokane in 1935 where Beth attended Holy Names Academy and graduated from Holy Names College.  In 1963 she married William Webber, Jr. and helped raise his beautiful family of four children, and in 1968 Ellen was welcomed into the family.  Beth enjoyed being a homemaker, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Beth worked for various doctors in Spokane but took great pride in volunteering for multiple organizations over the years:  St. Anne's Infant Home, Spokane Lilac Festival, Holy Family Hospital, Member of the Gonzaga Guild, and Board Member at Fort Wright College.  The Webbers were lifelong members of the Spokane Country Club (now Kalispel Golf and Country Club) where Beth was an avid and skilled golfer.  She loved spending time with the ladies 18-hole group and every Thursday, she and Bill played in the club's Twilight League.  Beth had two hole-in-ones within one year - her second was scored on April Fool's Day!  Given her talent, Bill got her personalized license plates which many may remember seeing around town, "II Aces".

Beth and Bill enjoyed travelling, mostly in Bill's airplane, but they also spent time abroad to visit son Rick and family who were stationed in Germany as well as watching the Calgary Olympics with close friends.  Their trips included a Caribbean Cruise and too many destinations to mention with golf courses – a passion for both.  In their later years they purchased a home in Sun City West, AZ where many other Spokanites resided which meant more golfing, socializing, and making new friends.

Beth also excelled at needlepoint and has left lots of beautifully treasured pieces of her handiwork with family.  Her Catholic faith was very important, and she loved her community at St. Thomas More Parish where she sang in the choir for years and always helped church funerals by bringing her famous deviled eggs to the reception.  She also loved gardening in her backyard.

We have so many wonderful and entertaining memories of this special lady who treasured family and dear friends, and loved meeting new people and hearing about their backgrounds, stories, and interesting experiences.

Beth is survived by sons Rick Webber (Eileen) and Mike Webber (Sheri), daughter Ellen Schroeter (Mike), grandsons John Webber, Robert Webber, Matthew Webber, Jack Schroeter and Will Schroeter, granddaughters Julie Webber-Peters and Dorothy Rotter, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and his children Robert and Christianne, siblings John Riley, Jr. and Jean Shelman.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Beth's memory to Catholic Charities – House of Charity ( https://www.cceasternwa.org/house-of-charity ).
