Ida Young was born on March 23, 1940 in Naples, Italy to Luigi and Maria Ada Postiglione. She was the fourth of nine children. She passed away peacefully on the morning of March 25, 2026 in Spokane, Washington surrounded by her loving family. Ida met her future husband, Bill in Naples when he was stationed there while serving in the United States Navy. They were married on November 16th 1968 and together raised their two children, their son Robert and daughter Sandra. She lived in Naples with her family until 1978 when her husband was transferred back to the United States to finish his military service. In 1980 she moved to Spokane, Washington and established a home for her family and started working for the Mead School District as an educational assistant in a position she held until her retirement in 2007.

Ida, lovingly known as Nonna by her four grandchildren was generous, loyal, fun-loving, full of energy and incredibly strong willed and would make a friend wherever she would go. As a proud Italian woman, she expressed her love through the incredible meals she prepared, often shared with family and those around her. Much of her joy was found in cooking, gardening, loving her dogs, most recently Mickey and Max. She loved playing card games with her family. Her favorites being Machiavelli and Conche Pocceratto. She deeply cherished traveling back home to Italy to spend time with her brothers and sisters and their families and sharing her culture with her grandchildren.

She loved her family immensely and would do anything for each and every one of them. She was always there to share a meal, lend a hand, and offer support to anyone in need. She will be remembered in every laugh, every story told, and every memory that brings a smile. Her legacy will live on in the traditions she passed down, and honored in every Italian meal we recreate.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William F. Young; her son, Robert Young, her daughter, Sandra Strzelecki, her daughter-in-law Janet Young and her cherished grandchildren, Joshua Young, Madison Young, Gabriella Strzelecki, and Nathan Strzelecki. She is survived by her siblings, Adriana, Renata, Roberto, and Bruno. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Pasquale, Flora, Sergio, and Stefano.

With deep faith, we take comfort in knowing she is at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and held in God’s eternal embrace. Though our hearts are heavy, we will carry her love with us always, forever blessed to have shared this life with her, until we are together again.
