Obituary

Jere Cornelius Sullivan was born to Francis Earl ("Steve") and Lillian Mable Sullivan on May 5, 1933, at 5:10 pm in Circle Montana. He was born in the living quarters of the family-owned business - McCone County Title Company - located on Main St., where his parents owned and operated the business, also selling insurance and real estate. This office / home was a former bank that had closed during the crash of 1929. At the age of 12, Jere began working at the local Conoco station, pumping gas for 22 cents a gallon and performing oil and lube jobs. He later worked for the town's Ford & Chevrolet dealerships, continuing similar work before attending a parts school in Billings, becoming a Chevrolet parts man. One summer, he worked for the Soil Conservation Department, measuring fields and groves, and at other times he helped on local farms during spring and harvest. Jere had one sister, Beverly, who was twelve years his senior.

An above-average basketball player, Jere kept his winters open for the sport wearing his prized number "00". After graduating from Circle High in 1952, he drove gravel trucks for the Montana Highway Department. Life shifted when he left for Spokane in August 1952, to visit his aunt Ree, intending to stay for a month before joining the Air Force. Instead, he found a job operating elevators at the Paulsen Building for 78 cents an hour.

Not long after arriving in Spokane, Jere met Alexina Roll. He took her to a movie on September 18, 1952—and that was it. All plans changed. They were married on November 21, 1953, at St. Joseph Church.

Jere went on to work at Wonder Bakery, starting as a baker and later as a route salesman, shipping clerk, and foreman. He retired in November 1988, as the head of the shipping department. Throughout his career, Jere often worked additional odd jobs on his days off to provide for his family.

From the late 1950s until 1988 he was a member of St. Charles Parish. There, he was actively involved in the school serving as Home and School president, organizing the candy drive, and supporting the Boy Scout troop.

Moving to Assumption Parish, he joined the Retired Men's Group, served as president and assisted at funeral masses. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Jere and Alexina raised three children in Spokane—Susan, John, and Jere (Theresa). He was a proud grandfather of 7, great-grandfather of 10 and great-great grandfather of 5.

Jere's precious loves were "being from Montana", time spent with his children and their families, camping trips, his creative home and yard, and most of all his beloved wife Alexina.

In the presence of his sons, telling his beloved wife "I love you baby doll", Jere concluded his life peacefully at age 92 from natural causes.

He touched the lives of everyone he met with a kind and interested heart. His hard work, humor, and steadfast love for his family and friends will be remembered always.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Northpointe Village for the love and support they provided Jere.
