John R Clemens, 73, passed away peacefully, Friday December 20, 2024, at home from a short illness with his adoring wife by his side. John was born, September 4, 1951, to Robert H. and Mary Grace (Champagne) Clemens, who predeceased him. He was number 2 of 4 in the pecking order.
John was born and raised in Spokane, attended Assumption and St Charles parochial schools, John did a 2-year stint at Gonzaga Prep and left because of a "disagreement" with a brother about taking a class in Latin or Greek. He graduated from Shadle Park in 1969 and Eastern Washington University with a BA in business administration in 1985. John dabbled in a few things including the real estate industry. In 1997 he joined Norwest Mortgage as a loan officer. After 25 years in the mortgage industry, he retired from HomeBridge in 2022.
John loved life, he was an adventurer, golfer, hunter, world traveler, sports nut and passionate Coug fan. John always strived to be the best person, husband, father and Boppa. He also strived to make his local community better, by graciously donating his time, talent and treasures to various local charities, including Meals on Wheels and Catholic Charities. John also enjoyed being a member of St Thomas More Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife Virginia of 25 + years, son Sean, daughters Candice McMillan and Rachel (Joseph) Schofield. Four grandkids that he thought were the greatest things that hit earth since sliced bread, Lily, Sawyer, Sophia and Aliya. Brother Tom (Jan) Clemens, sisters Molly (Mike) Brown and Kitty McMillan along with numerous nieces, nephews, greats and great greats.
Rosary and viewing will be held Friday, January 3, 2025, 6:00PM. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, 11:00AM at St Thomas More Catholic Church, 505 W St Thomas More Way, Spokane, with burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
