John George Krauter, 89, of Cheney, WA, passed away on April 24, 2024, at his family's home in Loon Lake, WA. He was born on July 14, 1934, in Lefor, ND to George and Anna Krauter.

John proudly served in the Army for 3 years in Europe during the height of the Cold War earning awards and commendations. After his military service, he dedicated 38 years to the Federal Postal Service, where he received numerous awards and accolades.

He attended Versippi High School and pursued higher education at Community College for numerous Vocational certificates.

John enjoyed traveling, vegetable gardening, fishing, walking, golfing, playing cards with friends, dancing, and playing the accordion in a band down south and during family gatherings.

He is survived by his sons Douglas Krauter (Lisa), Daryl Krauter (Laney), daughter Tyice Strahl (Mark), sisters Ann Peters and Clara Cecil, grandchildren Cassie Condon, Skyler Strahl, Kyle Krauter, Garrett Krauter, Kenny Krauter, Heather Krauter, great-grandchild Hayden, his former spouse Naomi Krauter, and many extended family and friends. John was preceded in death by his partner in life, Agnes Rablin, brothers Frank, Ed, and Jim Krauter, sister Rose Gordon, Helen Keen, and his parents George Krauter and Anna (Sabo) Krauter.

A Graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N Wall, Spokane, WA, on Saturday, May 11th, at 1pm, with Holy Cross Funeral Home assisting with the arrangements. A gathering of friends and family will follow the service at The Barrel restaurant at 3pm.
