John H "JJ" Mikkelson passed away peacefully at his home on May 21, 2024. John was born to Harvey Neil Mikkelson and Marguerite Mikkelson on May 6, 1951 in Spokane at the old St. Lukes Hosp. John was born severely unweight and was not expected to survive, but thanks to a very caring nurse who thought feeding him bananas and cottage cheese would help, he survived and was able to come home to his family.

John had many passions in his life, but his most ardent pastime was golf. He loved to golf and even made it his career. He worked many years at Wide World of Golf building custom golf clubs and repairing them. Most weekends you could find him on many of the local golf courses enjoying a round of 18, and then tipping a beer with friends. In later years he built up a rather lucrative business doing lawn care for his many customers.

John is survived by his brother Bob, sister-in-law Karen, numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, brother David, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews.

While John left us too early, we are comforted in the belief that his sufferings are over and that he is enjoying a round of golf with his friends in Heaven.

John will have a memorial service on July 10th @1:00pm at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery located 21702 W Espanola Rd, Medical Lake. There will be a celebration of life for John at a later date.
