Obituary

Joseph N. Falco Jr. peacefully passed away on May 13, 2023, at the age of 87, surrounded by his loving family.  Joe was a beloved husband to Florence (Flo) for over 68 years, he was a father to six children, 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Joe was born and raised in Spokane, Washington, where he raised his family.  He graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 1953, married the love of his life in 1955 and they celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this past January.  Joe and his father worked together until his father retired, he was an honorable and honest businessman and built a foundation for his children to build on and evolve through the years (garden center, stoves, fireplaces). Joe hired a lot of high school kids from the valley and taught them how to work and was a pacesetter for all those who worked for him. This is evident as Falco's remains a Spokane Valley icon, since 1928; and is still at the same location four generations later.

When Joe retired, he maintained an active lifestyle. He dedicated himself to the Lord and always had a passion for the less fortunate and was willing to give back to his community. He volunteered for many charitable foundations (including Meals on Wheels, House of Charity Nightwalk and Interfaith Hospitality of Spokane).

Joe lived a fulfilling life filled with love, laughter, and a deep dedication to his family and he touched the lives of everyone around him. Joe was known for his unwavering kindness, commitment to faith, his sense of humor, as well as his love for outdoors (boating, camping and gardening) and his loving animals.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Josephine, son Migual (Little Mike); his seven sisters, a brother and many others he loved so much. He is survived by his wife, Florence (Flo) and his five children, Joseph III (Kim), Louie (Kristi), Tina (Allan), Todd and Jodi, and 14 grandchildren with 25 great grandchildren.  Also, surviving are his two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to all the loving angels who showed love and compassion for Joe the past few months at Sunshine Rehab and Memory Care, Horizon Hospice and Palliative Care and Dr. John Sestero.
