Obituary

It is with broken hearts that we share the loss of Joshua Champion with his family and community of friends. We learned on August 8th that Josh had stepped into eternity earlier this year while he was in Southern Oregon. He leaves behind a family who misses him terribly including his parents, Vikki and Clint Champion; his five older siblings and their families, Caleb Champion, Sarah (Jake) Evans, Ben Champion, Elizabeth (Matt) Ellis and Jesse Champion; grandparents, JoAnn Champion, Gretchen and Robert Johnson; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. His grandpa, Leonard Champion preceded him in death. Josh is also deeply missed by many friends.

Josh was born and grew up in Spokane, attending Linwood Elementary, Salk Middle School and North Central High School. He was involved at Shiloh Hills Fellowship for many years during high school, and later volunteered countless hours staffing the sound booth there. He had a love for new adventures, and especially enjoyed outdoor activities. In early adulthood he spent a couple of stints in Southern California, where his growing love of cycling took root. Josh enjoyed the freedom of cycling, as well as the camaraderie of rides with friends and clubs, both in California and Washington. Josh had a passion for getting out into the woods and camping or hiking in primitive areas of Northeastern Washington and North Idaho. He also spent a season commercial salmon fishing in Alaska with his oldest brother. Josh spent several years working for electrical and signage companies in Spokane.

Josh is remembered as kind and gentle, a hard worker, a humorist, a super fun uncle who was the very best at playing hide and seek. A man of many talents and hobbies he enjoyed cooking specialty dishes, painting, and sports. He had a special and unique relationship with each of his siblings.

There will be a visitation for Josh where his family will be receiving guests to visit and share memories on Friday, August 21st from 5 to 7pm in the chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall St in Spokane. The funeral service will be at 10am on Saturday, August 22nd at Shiloh Hills Fellowship, 207 E. Lincoln Road, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
