Andrews
August 15, 1935 – September 18, 2023
Joyce Annette Marcella Baker Andrews (Age 88) passed away peacefully at home on Monday, September 18, 2023, in Liberty Lake, Washington. She is survived by her two sons, Don, Jr. (Cristi) and Dave; her grandchildren, Billy (Kari), Bri, Logan (Alyssa), Kaitlyn (Andrew), Kellsey (Codey), Shannon (Devon), and Alexa; her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Madisyn, Mason, Mylah, Beckett, Cruz, Tucker, Taylor, Kenley, and Cameron; her sister Jean (Rick); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Don, Sr., daughter, Mary Alyse; her granddaughters, Frances and Megan; and her sisters Joan and Janell.
Joyce was born August 15, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to Harold and Alyce (Flynn) Baker. Joyce attended the prestigious St. Scholastica Academy, and was lucky to spend summers at camp with her sisters. Following high school, Joyce and her childhood sweetheart, Don, eloped and were married at Fort Chafee, Arkansas.
After military service, Don, Joyce, and their family lived in Evanston and Champaign, Illinois, before moving to Southern California—Anaheim, Garden Grove, and Huntington Beach. Joyce enjoyed volunteering at school, with the PTA, and scouts, and part-time work at a local department store. After 14 years in Southern California, life took Don and Joyce, first to Tokyo, Japan, where she was an active member of the Franciscan Chapel Center and president of its women's group. She also spent many hours leading volunteers at the local Catholic hospital in Tokyo. After Tokyo, it was then off to Sixmilebridge, County Clare, Ireland. Don and Joyce later lived in Reno, Nevada, and Bonita Springs, Florida, before
finally moving to Liberty Lake, Washington.
Throughout her life, Joyce enjoyed time spent with friends and family, she loved shopping and traveling, a good scotch in her Waterford glass, and every night before bed she prayed the rosary.
