Obituary

"Juanita Fabiola (Solis) Garcia passed away on October 3, 2026, in Spokane, Washington surrounded by family at Holy Family Hospital. She was born on June 24, 1953, to Salvador and Maria Elvira Solis in El Paso, Texas and graduated from Austin High School in El Paso, where she excelled in choir and loved to sing.

Soon after high school, Juanita married and was blessed with her only daughter, Karen, who was the absolute light of her life. Karen remembers proudly that her mom volunteered at her school and the excitement she felt from their tradition of mom hiding little presents for her to find. In any and all conversations, Karen was a focal point for Juanita and it could never be understated the pride and joy that Juanita took in being her mommy. After divorcing, Juanita traveled to Spokane in 1995 to celebrate her younger sister and brother-in-laws wedding. She ultimately settled in the Spokane Valley dedicating herself as a caregiver. She was selfless and would give all that she could to anyone before herself.

Known for her fun and silly nature, Juanita was warm, welcoming and uniquely youthful. You could not, not laugh along with her. Her faith in God kept her strong and optimistic through life's curve balls. She was an absolute cat lover and spent many years of her life surrounded by her feline friends, her most recent companion being her baby boy, Bo. Juanita enjoyed knitting, coloring books, word searches and making countless notes of interest for herself or to share with others.

Juanita is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Karen (Garcia) & Jody Martin, devoted sister and brother-in-law, Elena & Bob Whigham, loving twin nieces Mylena Whigham, Mica (Derrek Stalcup), honorary niece, Maisie Crane, & precious grand niece, Emree (16 mos.) and grand nephew, Robbie (5). We are devastated to say goodbye, but we take comfort in the belief that she has been reunited with her Savior and her parents in Heaven."
