Judith
Kensok
September 12, 1953 – August 25, 2025
Judi Colleen Kensok (Hanses), beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, joining her husband Ron in eternal rest. She was born in Butte, Montana, in 1953 and was lovingly adopted at birth by Richard and Carol Hanses.
Judi grew up in Tri-Cities, Washington, where she attended grade school and high school before moving to Spokane. It was there she met the love of her life, Ron, and together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and devotion.
Judi and Ron were blessed with six children, who were the center of her world: Jacinda (Spokane), Jaron (Spokane), Alissa (Josiah) Roloff of Spokane, WA, Travis (Lexie) Kensok of Chandler, AZ, Kayla (Dustin) Peckham of Spokane, WA, and Matthew (Jessica) Kensok of Bellingham, WA. Her love multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren: Kiarrah, Andrew, Olivia, Raegan, Piper, Julia, Bennett, Davin, Ryder, Mason, Kayson, Kennedy, Kali, and Jenna. Nothing brought Judi greater joy than being surrounded by her family, and she carried immense pride in the lives, accomplishments, and spirit of each of her children and grandchildren.
All of Judi's children were born in Spokane, where the family lived until the late 1990s. They then moved to the Bellingham/Nooksack area, where Ron and Judi raised their family with strong values of faith, togetherness, and perseverance. Judi created a home that was both welcoming and warm, always full of love, laughter, and the smell of something delicious cooking in the kitchen.
Judi's passions reflected her beautiful soul, she loved music, especially the stirring sound of bagpipes, the beauty of flowers, the traditions of her Catholic faith, and celebrating holidays, with Christmas holding a particularly special place in her heart. She had a gift for making every occasion meaningful and memorable, and her presence brought comfort and light to those around her.
Throughout her career, Judi worked in schools assisting children with learning disabilities. With patience, compassion, and unwavering dedication, she helped countless students feel heard, valued, and capable of success. Her work left a lasting impact on many young lives, and her kindness extended far beyond the classroom.
Judi faced life's challenges with strength and grace. After losing her husband, Ron, to a sudden stroke less than two years ago, she continued to love deeply, fight daily, and give generously to her family and community. Now, she is reunited with Ron, her parents Richard and Carol, her mother- and father-in-law Margauerite and Jerry, her sister-in-law Patricia, her niece Jennifer and her brother-in-law Mike, in eternal peace.
Judi will forever be remembered for her gentle heart, her joyful spirit, and the way she poured her love into everything she did. Her legacy lives on in her children, her grandchildren, and in the countless lives she touched over her 70+ years on this earth.
