Julia
Huss
October 23, 1926 – July 14, 2024
Julia Elizabeth Huss was born on October 23, 1926, to Anne Brady Falsetto and Francis A. (Frank) Falsetto in Spokane, Washington. Julia (whose nickname was Betty) passed on July 14, 2024, at the age of 97 years old.
Julia married Melvin Elias Huss on September 10, 1946. Unfortunately, Julia became a widow at 32 years old, leaving her to raise three boys aged 1 year, 4 years and 12 years old by herself. She never married again but devoted her life to her sons. Julia worked at The Crescent at Northtown as a salesclerk for thirty-plus years in order to make ends meet. Although life was challenging, including learning how to drive, she always had a great sense of humor.
Her Catholic religion was an integral part of her life, sending her sons to St. Francis Xavier School and Gonzaga Prep. She was active in her parish in helping at funeral receptions and providing transportation for the Sisters of Perpetual Adoration who taught at her sons' school. She was also a member of the auxiliary for the Jesuit priests as her older brother was a Jesuit. The rosary was also an important part of her prayer life.
Julia is survived by her three sons, Jim (Sue) Huss, Tony Huss and Dennis (Ann) Huss, her grandchildren Amy, Joe and Becky Huss; Peter and Natalie Huss; Mary Sayers (Forrest) and Adam (Sarah) Huss; and her great grandchildren Olivia, Nic, David and Amelia Jernigan and Julia and Elsie Sayers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Thomas More Church (505 W. Saint Thomas More Way, Spokane WA 99208) or Poor Clare Nuns (4419 N. Hawthorne St., Spokane WA 99205).
A rosary vigil will be held Friday, July 26, 2024, at St. Thomas More Church at 7:00pm. A Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2024, at St. Thomas More Church at 1:00 pm. Internment at Holy Cross Cemetery will take place immediately following the funeral. The family will have a private dinner later that evening.
