Kathleen Kubas entered into rest on Jan. 1, 2021 in Yuma, AZ with close family members at her side. Her end of life was from complications of Dementia. Kathleen was born on April 23, 1933 in Bournemouth England. In high school she enjoyed playing Netball for the Bournemouth Youth Organization, proudly winning several medals. After building her own bicycle piece by piece she joined the Poole Cycling & Athletic Club. In 1951 she finished in 1 st place in what she described as the big race and a most moving moment of her life. At age 16 she apprenticed as a seamstress. She used her sewing skills to sew clothes for her six children and also worked for many years doing bridal dress and groom tux alterations. She met her husband Emil Kubas while he was stationed in England. They married in 1954 and were married for over 60 years until Emil passed away in 2017. In 1956 they moved from England to Moses Lake WA and eventually made Spokane WA their home for over 50 years. Besides her love of spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and camping and fishing, knitting was her passion. She learned knitting as a young girl and loved to knit beautiful baby sweaters, hats and booties for each new grandchild and great grandchild. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and especially cherished her time with close girlfriends playing bingo and creating ceramics. Kathleen leaves behind her six children: Janet (Al) Kruebbe, full-time RVers, Gail (Bill) Stanley, Metaline Falls, WA, David (Natalie) Kubas, Spokane, WA, Debbie (John) Harkness, Yuma, AZ, Robert (Margo) Kubas, Spokane WA, Richard (Teresa) Kubas, Spokane, WA; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren: two sisters: Sylvia Hellier, Dorset, England, Julie Mission, Newbury Berks , England. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her beloved brother, Robert. Kathleen will be put to rest alongside her husband at Holy Cross Cemetery, Spokane, WA.
