Larry Winner (age 77) passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 17
th
, 2022 after several years of declining health. He was born in Durango Colorado on October 16, 1944 to Annabel and James Winner. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara; children Angela, Lara, Katherine, and Andrew; son-in-law Ajay Narayanan, grandson Aidan Narayanan; and his sister Carole.
Larry attended West Valley High School in Spokane, and then Gonzaga University where he earned both his bachelor's degree and law degree. He spent his career working as an attorney for the City of Spokane, where his signature achievement was the revision of the hundreds of pages of municipal code that governs city operations. Larry enjoyed music and played the French horn with the Our Lady of Fatima folk music choir and the Spokane Horn Club. He often listened to Mariners or Seahawks on his portable radio or mini TV, and was a youth softball umpire. He enjoyed road trips and playing board games with his family.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to Spokane Public Radio or to the Glacier National Park Conservancy, where he enjoyed working summer seasons in his youth.
