Obituary

Lawrence (Larry) Hirschberger, better known as "Poppy" was born March 1 1, 1 9 4 7 in Englewood New Jersey, and died April, 2 0 2 3 in Spokane, Washington with his loved ones close.

Larry grew up in the heart of New Jersey and New York with his parents and siblings. In his early adolescent years, they moved across the county to Garden Grove, California. He very much enjoyed California, he worked on all of his muscle cars, drag-raced in the streets, went to the beach, and attended Santa Ana Valley High School.

He met his future wife Cathey when she moved in next door. They hit it off immediately because they had the same interests in cars, motorcycles, horses, and the outdoors.

They were married in 1 9 6 8 and honeymooned in the Pacific Northwest and fell in love with the area. In 1 9 7 0 they moved to Deer Park Washington with their horses and later moved to Spokane Washington where Larry would reside for the remainder of his life. In 1 9 7 2 their son "Little" Larry was born and in

1 9 7 5 their daughter Carey came along. Being a father made him very happy and he was involved in their lives until the end. He was one of those fun dads that all the kids wanted to hang out with and he gave them so many great memories.

Larry worked for the Crescent in downtown Spokane later called Fredrick and Nelson for 2 5 years. He started in the warehouse and merchandising departments eventually working his way up to becoming the buyer for the electronics and furniture department; which he enjoyed very much. Unfortunately, the large chain department store closed and he had to change careers. He found something that he equally enjoyed becoming the district manager of the Frigidaire Company, where he traveled and sold appliances to dealers in his territory.

Larry's favorite thing to do in the world was to play golf, which he was very good at. Throughout the years he traveled all over the county playing golf for fun as well as participating in many prestige tournaments with amateurs and professionals. He played golf weekly after retirement until he couldn't any longer due to a bad leg injury as well as his Parkinson's progression.

He was always the funniest guy in the room and he had the most beautiful eyes and the best smile. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is at peace now free of pain and suffering and has been reunited with the love of his life Cathey and all of his other family members.

Larry is survived by his children Larry and Cherie Hirschberger Jr., Carey, and Jeff Kiehn, and several Grandchildren. A small service will be held at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date.
