Louis David Blazovich, 72, passed away on August 27, 2026, leaving behind a life full of strength, friendship, and the open road.

Louis was born on December 21, 1953, in Clinton, Indiana, to John Blazovich and Lena Margaret David. He grew up in Spokane, where he attended Sacred Heart Grade School, St. John Vianney Grade School, and North Pines Junior High before graduating from University High School in 1972. As the oldest of three children, Louis set the pace for his younger sister, Ann Marie, and his younger brother, Victor, forging a bond between the siblings that lasted a lifetime.

From a young age, Louis lived with intensity. He had a deep passion for cars, karate, and weightlifting — and the strength to back it up, famously able to bench press 540 pounds. That same discipline carried into his working life, which he spent behind the wheel of semi trucks, a career he genuinely loved. There was something about the freedom of the highway, the hum of the engine, and the open miles ahead that suited him perfectly.

Some of his best memories were the years he lived at “The Castle” perched on a bluff in Spokane’s Castle Hill Addition, living there along with some of his good friends and Speed, his “best dog ever.”

But if you ask those who knew him best, Louis's greatest achievements weren't measured in pounds lifted or miles driven — they were measured in relationships. He believed that close friendships were among the greatest blessings in life, and he lived that belief fully, surrounding himself with people who brought him love and laughter until the very end.

Louis is survived by his sister, Ann Marie (Lino) Asuncion, and his brother, Fr. Victor Blazovich; his son, Ben (Heather) and granddaughter Journey; his nieces, Christine (Johnnie) Gibson and Catherine (Richard) Elliott, and nephews, John (Lexie) Asuncion, and Michael Asuncion; his great-nephews, Nicholas Gibson, Andy Gibson, Daniel Elliott, Cameron Gibson, Noa Elliott, Haweo Asuncion and the many cherished friends who stood by him throughout his life.

Louis leaves behind a legacy of hard work, hard-earned muscle, and an even harder-earned circle of love. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 217 E. Rockwood Blvd., Spokane, WA on Friday, September 4, at 11 a.m.
