Lucille Mary
Sprute
July 11, 1922 – November 13, 2024
Lucille (Schmidt) Sprute was born to Joseph and Teresa Schmidt on July 11th, 1922, in Greencreek, Idaho. On November 13th, 2024, Lucille moved on to obtain her angel wings. Lucille was 102 years old.
Lucille was the oldest of 9 children growing up on a small farm in Greencreek. In 1941, she met the love of her life Ray Sprute. Ray and Lucille were married November 10th, 1942, in St. Anthony's Parrish in Greencreek. The new little family started their life in a small house in Mullan, Idaho. Moving from the farm to a city like Mullan was a learning experience for Lucille. She had never purchased meat from a butcher before, and didn't know how to prepare these unfamiliar cuts of meat. After a couple of years, Ray and Lucille purchased a home in Yellowdog, Idaho, where they lived for 55 years. Lucille was an exceptional mother to Kathleen (Sprute) Stone, Joanne (Sprute) Sperry, Patrick Sprute and Debbie (Sprute) Grantham.
The little house in Yellowdog had magical qualities. There was always room for more. Whether it be a place to sleep or an extra place at the table. It was not unusual on a quiet Sunday afternoon to have unexpected guests come by and stay for dinner. Somehow there was always plenty of wonderful food to go with the warm company. As time went on and grandchildren appeared, the little house in Yellowdog became even more special. Each of Lucille's 12 grandchildren will tell you their bond with their grandmother was extraordinary, each for a unique reason.
Lucille was very involved in her Parish in Wallace, at St. Alphonsus Catholic church up until Ray passed and she moved to Spokane in October of 2000. She enjoyed her new congregation at St, Peters in Spokane and quickly become a well-loved member of her Parish .
Lucille is survived by her children Kathleen and Chuck Stone, Joanne Sperry, Debbie and Dan Grantham and daughter-in-law Sallie (Voltolini) Sprute. In addition, her grandchildren, Annette Keno Ourada, Jody Scott, Mike Sperry, Shelley McCarthy, Suzanne Sperry, Joy Sperry, Kyle Sprute, Jake Sprute, Heather Brodie, and Kelly Gachet. Lucille is blessed with 18 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters and brother, Clemy Bieker, Anna Gehring, Theresa Wemhoff and Fr Joseph Schmidt.
Lucille was proceeded in death by her husband Ray Sprute, her son Patrick Sprute, granddaughter Theresa (Stone) Lux, and grandson Brian Sperry , son in law Warren Sperry and Lucille's sisters and brother, Margaret Becker, Florence Lux, Dolores Von Bargen and Fred Schmidt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St Peter Parish in Lucille's name.
