Marcella
Whitney
August 31, 1962 – October 17, 2024
Marcella (Marcy) Whitney passed away surrounded by her family in Spokane, WA on October 17, 2024, after a year-long battle with both melanoma and lung cancer. She had just celebrated her 62nd birthday on August 31st of this year.
Marcy was born in Spokane, WA to parents Arthur Walker and Mary Walker (née Kuntz) on August 31, 1962. She was raised in a large family of five siblings, many of whom she raised herself as a surrogate mother, a selfless trait that she would continue to hold through the remainder of her life.
Marcy was best known for her warmth and vibrant character. She had a free spirit that delighted in the small things in life – from seeing her morning glories open in the morning to successfully creating a new holiday treat recipe. She was an avid gardener that enjoyed sharing the fruits of her labor with her family, her family's friends, and even strangers. She was the first person that was asked for advice on any type of plant, and she always had a wealth of information to share. She could diagnose any strange bump or rash just from looking at it and had a natural remedy for any ailment. She had a world of advice for anything that you needed and was always willing to give you a hug or cook your favorite meal for a bad day.
Outside of her personal pursuits, Marcy was a dry cleaner by trade, a housewife, partner, mother, grandmother, and friend. She lived a full, adventurous life that was cut far too short and will be dearly missed.
Marcy is survived by her three children Shane Walker, Matthew Whitney, and Crystal Whitney, grandchildren, and siblings. Memorial service for Marcy is planned for family/friends at 11:00 AM on January 18th, 2025, at North Bridge Church, 22421 E Euclid Ave, Otis Orchards, WA 99027. We welcome anyone to come share their memories and join us in celebrating this beautiful life that she had lived.
