Obituary

Margaret Laura Everett

November 29, 1929 – May 13, 2026

It is with very heavy hearts that we make known the passing of our beautiful, beloved mother, Margaret Everett, who peacefully left this world to be with the Heavenly Father.

Margaret was born in Olean, NY to Robert Otto and Margaret Sullivan. After graduating High School, she went on to work at a local bank. She met Marvin Colton Everett at the bowling alley that she played on a league at. They married in April 1954 and had their first child in 1955, Orin Paul. From Olean, they moved to Missoula Montana. She got her degree in nursing and would go on to work at St Patrick’s Hospital in the Pediatric Ward for twelve years. From there, she would have three more children.

In June 1972 our family moved to Spokane Washington, and this would be her home for the rest of her years. She worked in housekeeping at various businesses, the last one upon her retiring being The Spokane Club. Her favorite part of working there was those famous orange rolls they were known for. She definitely had her fair share of those!

She loved swimming, running, riding her bike, going to the gym, taking the STA buses everywhere, coloring and the Kansas City Chiefs. She had a little Yorkie, Myah, that was gifted to her in 2013 that was her companion for many years. Myah lives on with her daughter.  She also loved music of all kinds, but especially Yanni and Credence Clearwater.

Our mother was the glue that held our family together through all the happy times and rough times. She was a great listener and never interrupted your conversation, always gave you that time. She had the most infectious and joyful, full of life laugh.

In her 1949 graduation yearbook it said:

Likes – Small things

Noted For – Swishing By

Where Found – Everywhere

Probably Will Be – Hustler (this one cracked us up)

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, Delbert and Margaret, her aunt Helen, her sister Joan, our father Marvin and her son and our brother, Orin. She is survived by her children; Debra Ann, Scott Alan and Craig Matthew, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

A deep debt of gratitude for all who cared for our mother during her time at Spokane Falls Care and the team from Hospice of Spokane in her final month.

A memorial service celebrating Margaret’s life will be held on Friday, May 29, 2026 at 2:30pm at the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel (7200 N Wall St, Spokane WA 99208).

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to a cause dear to your heart.
