Obituary

Margarito "Mag" Moncada of Cheney, WA passed away unexpectedly at home on September 2, 2025.

Mag was born in Crystal City, TX on November 4, 1962 to Margarito Sr. and Elida (nee Martinez) Moncada. He was one of six children. He moved to Moses Lake, WA in 1971 where he attended Moses Lake High School, and finished with his GED. He remained fond of Crystal City, and would visit as often as he could in his younger years.

He married Martina Rocha in 1978, and they welcomed four children Malinda, JohnPaul, Melissa, and Nicholas. They enjoyed 32 years together, and later divorced in 2010. Mag moved to Cheney, WA in 2011, and soon after met his girlfriend Brenda. They shared over 10 happy years, and brought their families together, including many fur children. Family was Mag's greatest joy. He loved his children and grandchildren so much.

Mag was very passionate about his work, and followed in his father's footsteps of being a machinery operator for over 25 years. Prior to that he worked in surveying with Western Pacific in Moses Lake, WA, custodian with Killian Services in Moses Lake, WA, asphalt at Walker's Paving, and spuds with Jones Produce in Quincy, WA.

Mag was always smiling and made friends easily. He was a selfless man who found joy in helping others whenever he could. He loved family outings, dancing, fishing, the San Francisco 49ers, the Yankees, telling a great story, and finding the humor in any situation.

He is survived by his children JohnPaul Moncada (Denise), Melissa Halbrook (Michael), Nick Moncada (Leonela); his partner Brenda Carpenter; siblings Genoveva Moncada Varela (Salomon), Mary Guadalupe Moncada, Daniel Moncada (Rachel), and Gerardo Moncada (Laura); many special grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins; fur babies Tikaani, August, and Frankie who never left his side. He is preceded in death by his parents Margarito Sr. and Elida Moncada; beloved daughter Malinda; brother Juan Carlos Moncada; and fur babies Chloe and Mazy.
