Marilyn
Hoerner
July 14, 1940 – January 12, 2024
Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marilyn Hoerner, passed away on January 12, 2024. Marilyn was born in Bismarck, North Dakota in 1940. She was close to her family growing up and had a happy childhood. She married Roy Hoerner Jr. in 1960 and together they raised four children and were blessed with 59 years of marriage. Marilyn graduated from Holy Names Academy (high school), Eastern Washington State College (BA in Education), and Whitworth College (MA in Education). She taught at Evergreen Elementary School for 30 years. She enjoyed teaching and the positive impact it had on her students. Outside of work, she loved to travel, sew, paint, garden, work on genealogy, research and learn new things, and attend her children's and grandchildren's concerts and events. Marilyn had many friends. She had a deep faith and was a wonderful example of hope and generosity.
Marilyn will be deeply missed by those she left behind. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; parents Frank and Ann Gabel; brother Kenneth Gabel; and sister Beverly Riordan. She is survived by her children: son - Brian (Jean) and their children: Christina (Josh), Stephen (Victoria), Joseph, Mary and Elizabeth; daughter - Janice Johnson (Frank) and their children: Jenna (Bryceson), Sara (Michael), Bethany (Levi), and Elita; daughter - Renee Ray (Jerry) and their children: Nathan (Alanna), Brandon, Abigail, Josiah, and Isaiah; daughter - Sharon Macalalad (Elias) and their children: Gabriel, Andrew, and Christian; and thirteen great-grandchildren: Matthew, Evlynn, Talia, Caleb, Meira, Paxton, Capri, Lily, Rose, Catherine, Tommy, Paul, and Leia.
