Marilyn Shook passed away June 26, 2019 at her home in Suncrest. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Suncrest at 11:00am on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
Marilyn was born November 18, 1940 to Nadine and Dale Anderson in Mason City, Iowa. She graduated high school in Mitchell, SD in 1958, then attended business college and began a long career in financial accounting.
Marilyn enjoyed her accounting work in Spokane for over 25 years, including many years with Gary Kirchner, CPA. She loved the retirement life, following her husband Claude and her brother Gary around the country from one adventure to another. Claude and Marilyn began the "snowbird" life in 2011 and loved their community in Florida. She treasured her time in Florida, there was no snow and she enjoyed many new friends. It was heaven on earth for her! She just couldn't give up accounting work, so she did the books for the church as well as the Tum Tum community center for many years. She was then treasurer of her community club in Florida.
Survivors include her husband of 44 blessed years, Claude Shook; children Cathy Smith (Scott), Carroll Bradley Anderson, Carmyn Shute (Tom), Cory Shook, Crista Fisher (Ron); 16 grandkids; 24 great grandkids with two more on the way; 3 great-great grandkids and another on the way. Marilyn absolutely and totally loved her family first. She is also survived by her siblings, Gary Anderson (Paula), Barry Anderson, Jay Anderson, Ed Anderson (Cheryl), Gloria McCue (Pete), Barbie Clark (Mark), Andi Brockwell (Paul); and many nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Judy, her children Cristen, Chandra, and Cindy and grandson John.
Marilyn will be remembered most as the embodiment of unconditional love by her family as well as her friends. Her Florida family, especially her friend and confidant Joy Aldrich, will remember her laugh and sewing stories. Fabric stores would rejoice when she walked in; she loved quilting and sewing Her many handmade gifts, memories for her family that will last forever.
Marilyn will be missed by so many. The family wishes that memorial donations be made to the church she and Claude were founding members of, Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Suncrest.
