Mary Louise Hutton Obituary
1934 - 2025
Mary Louise 'Weeze' Hutton was born on July 8, 1934 to Charlie and Mary Ann Stapleton in Spokane Washington. She died peacefully on July 14, 2025 at Rockwood Whitworth following a decade long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Weeze was raised in the Downriver neighborhood of Spokane and attended St. Anthony's Catholic School, Holy Names Academy, and went on to college at Seattle University. She made many lifelong friends and fond memories during those years.
Many memories were made at Diamond Lake where friends would gather and family continues to enjoy to this day.
Weeze worked as a dental assistant before meeting and marrying Jim Hutton. They married on June 2, 1956 and by November of 1960 they had 4 children (like all good Catholics)! They were married for over 66 years at the time of Jim's passing in 2022.
Weeze's Catholic faith was central to who she was. Jim and Weeze were active members of St Thomas More Parish. She volunteered many hours with the parish altar society, funeral ministry and on the prayer chain. Mom and Dad ensured that all 4 children received a Catholic education through high school.
Family was Weeze's greatest joy. She stayed home to raise her 4 children and spent time volunteering at their schools. She never missed any events that her kids were involved in and that carried on with her grandchildren who brought her immense joy.
Jim and Weeze enjoyed traveling both domestically and internationally with friends made through Jim's association with the WIAA. Some of their most meaningful trips were visits to Ireland where they were able to meet with Weeze's relatives.
Weeze was a friendly, quick-witted lady with an ability to easily make friends. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, going to the theater and symphony and attending Gonzaga Women's basketball games.
Weeze is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Jim. She is survived by her sons Kevin (Cheryl), and Denny (Pat), and daughters Maureen Olson (Ken) and Meeghan Hutton. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Courtney Natenstedt (Eric), Brian Hutton (Inna), Stacey Olson (Mike), Kailey Simmons (Cody), Ryan Olson and Danielle Stephens (Max). She is survived by 4 great grandchildren: Layton and Cole Simmons, Levi Nelson and Luka Hutton. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Barbara Cossette and numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff at Rockwood at Whitworth Memory Care for their outstanding, compassionate care they provided Weeze in the final years of her life.
