Mary Kathryn
Morgan
Jul 2, 1933 — Oct 23, 2026
Mary Kathryn Morgan, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted community member, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family at the age of 93.
Born on July 2, 1933, in Lewiston, Idaho, Mary was the youngest of three siblings born to Harold and Regina Ruddell. She grew up with a vibrant spirit that carried her through a long, beautiful life defined by education, service, and an unwavering devotion to her family.
Mary attended Washington State University, where she became a proud member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, forging deep, lifelong friendships. Her exceptional leadership and character earned her a place among the “Big Ten” outstanding seniors. It was at WSU that she also solidified her identity as a loyal, lifelong Coug fan. She and the love of her life, Bob Margan, were married on October 1, 1955. Together, their enduring commitment to their alma mater was later recognized when they received the prestigious WSU Alumni Achievement Award for their numerous contributions to the university.
While raising her three children, Jeff, Terri, and Roger, Mary’s passion for learning never waned. She balanced the demands of a busy household to earn her master’s degree from Whitworth University. Once her children were grown, Mary dedicated 14 years to teaching at Roger’s High School, shaping the minds and lives of countless local students with her warmth and wisdom.
Mary’s faith and desire to give back were central to her life. She was a deeply active member of Sacred Heart Church and generously volunteered her time on many local boards. Her social and civic engagements kept her vibrant and connected; she was a dedicated member of the Junior League, PEO, Manito Golf and Country Club, and the Spokane Garden Club.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob. Her lebacy of love, intelligence, and grace lives on through her surviving family: her sons Jeff and Roger Morgan; her daughter Terri (Scott) Coombs; her cherished grandchildren, Matt (Ashley) Coombs, John (Natalie) Coombs, Lauren (Taylor) Baehm, Christine (Ross) Nauman, Tyler (Gina) Morgan, Jennifer (Cory) Gregersen, and Carly (josh) Morales; her 13 precious great-grandchildren; her sister, Patti Edelblute; and her sister-in-law, Barbara Auer. She will be profoundly missed by all who knew her
A funeral mass for Mary will be held at a later date when all of her family are able to gather and celebrate her life.
