Mary Jane
Snyder
September 24, 1926 – July 20, 2021
Mary Jane Snyder passed on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Preceded in death by her mother Mary Nelson; father Charles Nelson; sisters Eleanor Corvi and Marguerite McCrow; and brother Chuck Nelson. Mary Jane grew up on the north side of Spokane attending St. Francis of Assisi School and North Central High School where she was a member of the "Red Feathers" marching team. It was at NC that she met the love of her life, Howard Snyder. Following WWII, Howard and Mary Jane were married in 1945, raising two boys, Bruce and Keith Snyder. She lost her partner and husband, Howard, in February of 1990. Through the years Mary Jane held multiple jobs in Spokane, including Early Dawn Dairy and Keys Variety Store, She also served as bookkeeper and co-owner of HFS Cheese, and Howard Snyder Distributing. In later years, Mary Jane loved spending time with her grandchildren, playing the penny slots at local casinos, enjoying Friday drinks and snacks with friends at Twigs or the Barrel, and watching Zags Basketball! A long time parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and the Poor Claires Convent in Spokane, she lived her faith, loved her family, and was a loyal friend. Mary Jane and Howard maintained a life-long friendship with the "Group"; five families that forged a tremendous bond through the years. They included Bob and Clarice Hagle, Dick and Jean Pohle, Frank and Darleen Willmering, and Jan and Mac McDougall. She is survived by her two sons, Bruce Snyder (Gay) and Keith Snyder (BJ); granddaughters Cassie Snell (Ryan), Sammie Hand (Chad), and grandson Corey Snyder (Jessica), along with three great grandchildren. The Snyders would like to thank the staff and crew of the Riverview Terrace Assisted Living; and especially Horizon Hospice nurses Katlyn, Ashley, and Karina!
