Obituary

Michael Lee "Mikey" Beitey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 23, 2026, in Spokane, Washington. Born on March 31, 1950, in Wenatchee, Washington, Michael lived a full and vibrant life dedicated to his family, faith, and community.

Michael graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1970 before pursuing his passion for the culinary arts at Spokane Community College. After earning his degree, he worked as a chef for ten years before embarking on a long and fulfilling career with the East Valley School District. Over the course of 33 years, Michael served in various roles including custodian, bus driver, and ultimately retired as a bus mechanic. He cherished the camaraderie he shared with his colleagues at the bus garage.

A man of deep faith and devotion to his Catholic upbringing, Michael was a dedicated member of St. Joseph Parish in Spokane Valley, Washington. He married and raised his family within the Catholic faith alongside his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara C. Beitey.

Michael was a lifelong member of the Eagles Fraternity Area #2 and proudly served as a loyal member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary alongside his parents and brothers. His adventurous spirit led him to join K & M Camping with his brothers Dennis and John; together they explored numerous campgrounds and created cherished memories. Michael found immense joy in boating, fishing, camping, and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed occasional motorcycle trips that fueled his love for adventure.

Known for his playful sense of humor and knack for teasing those he loved most, Michael had an uncanny ability to bring laughter into any room. His quick wit and mischievous charm endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. If Michael wasn't playfully pushing someone's buttons or eliciting a reaction with his jokes, it was clear something was amiss.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife Barbara; their children Gary L. Beitey (Nicole) and Carolee A. Fox (Cris Bishop); brothers Dennis Beitey (Bonnie) and John Beitey (Connie); four grandchildren: Julia Fox (Talon Rogers), Morgan Beitey, Katria Bishop, and Gracie Beitey; as well as two great-grandchildren Scarlett Rogers and Colt Rogers. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Grace Beitey.

Michael's legacy is one of love, laughter, faith, and dedication to those around him. His memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.

May Michael's memory bring comfort to those who knew him as they celebrate the remarkable life he lived so fully.
