Bonnie George Sullivan
April 26, 1928 – December 31, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved parents Mortimer and Bonnie Sullivan.
Mortimer George Sullivan III left this world on 12-31-23 after a life well lived. He was born on 4-26-28 to Mortimer and Matilda Sullivan in Butte Montana.
At age 17, he joined the Marine Corps with the permission of his parents as he wanted to serve at the end of World War II. He also served in the Korean War. He devoted 30 years and one day to the United States Marine Corps rising through the ranks with unwavering dedication and commitment. His accomplishments were numerous and he earned the esteemed rank of sergeant major through hard work, discipline and a profound sense of duty. He also earned a BA degree from EWU and had a successful career with Aetna life insurance.
His legacy is not just military accomplishments but also a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. His unconditional love and wisdom instilled a sense of pride and belonging in the hearts of those he cherished the most. He left an impact on the countless lives he touched. He earned the nickname little leprechaun, for his green attire on St. Patrick's Day. He never met a stranger.
Mort married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean King, who was born on 12-27-29 in LaGrande Oregon to Jack and Kate Hensley. Bonnie passed away on 7-08-20 during Covid.
Bonnie attended cosmetology school and worked in the industry for many years. She enjoyed theater and starred in many roles. She was a woman with many talents.
Bonnie was a self-appointed counselor to all of her friends and family with her caring nature. She was also known as grandma click-click and was the family photographer.
In addition to a loving mother, she was a cherished grandmother and friend to many. If you were loved by Bonnie, you were very lucky.
Together they shared 50 years of marriage. Their partnership was a testament to the enduring power of love.
They enjoyed life to the fullest, with many lifelong friends, travel, rodeos, they loved holidays and their home was the gathering place where you felt loved.
May their souls rest in eternal peace together and their enduring spirit continue to inspire us to live in kindness, love and fun.
Together they had 5 children, 9 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the many caretakers along their journey.
